Infinitive sentences as a means of expressing modal semantics
The authors analyze modal semantics of infinitive sentences using examples from the Russian language of the second half of the 17th and early 18th centuries. Special attention is paid to the interaction of modal semantics with the pragmatic background of the utterance. The authors identify ...
About horizontally vector lifts of tensor fields from the base to its tangent bundle
The vector field of the type , obtained fr om the tensor field on a smooth manifold M to the tangent bundle , arises in the study of infinitesimal affine transformations with a complete lift. The H-lift was introduced S. Tanno in 1974 in infinitesimal isometries on the tangent bundle with the complete lift. The definition of H’-lift given by the author in this paper. There are established the properties of the entered lift and founded the commutator , wh ere .

Latent Evaluation in Infinitive Writing
The article deals with the results of an experiment on modelling the reader's perception of infinitive writing modal semantics. The author argues
that the reader's interpretation of infinitive writing bases on connotation semantics of a poetic text rather than on the 'grammar of poetry'.

Reception of Kant’s Epistemological Ideas in Fyodor Golubinsky’s Metaphysics
... objective. In his doctrine of the categories of understanding Golubinsky follows Kant in that the foundation of the categories of understanding is the unity of self-consciousness but he attributes the unity of self-consciousness to reason’s idea of the Infinite, whereas Kant sees it in the understanding. With some reservations, it can be said that Golubinsky adopts Kant’s table of categories but changes their order. As for the meaning of the categories, for Golubinsky they are not merely laws of cognising ...
Space and Time as A Priori Forms in the Works of Hermann Cohen and Ivan Lapshin
In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries the need to rethink the status of space and time which Kant considered to be a priori forms of sensibility was prompted by the emergence of new approaches to the methodology of scientific cognition. In neo-Kantian interpretation these cognitive forms acquire a special epistemological status, manifesting themselves in theoretical research as “pre-given” foundations of knowledge. It seems necessary to conduct a comparative analysis of two interconnected...

The functional features of the “lexical modifier + dependent infinitive” modal structures in the first Russian newspapers
On the basis of Russian periodicals of the first half of the 18th century, the author considers lexical modal modifiers that convey situational modality meanings in combination with a dependent infinitive. The article identifies the specific features of such modifiers, namely, their capacity to express subjective-modal evaluations of newspaper text authors.

Constructive Thinking in the Critical Philosophy of Hermann Cohen
... being. According to Cohen, scientific thinking can only be pure and generated by the origin. The origin is continuous action (movement) of thinking to separate the united and bind the divided content. In this process, thinking and being are correlative. Infinitely small reality contains thinking and being simultaneously as a union and in a divided form. The infinitesimal method is thinking that continuously carries out a) the operations of opposing itself as pure thinking to the results of its own production; ...

Overcoming it presupposes an intensive methodological search that infinitely expands the horizons of permissible views rather than the use of a system approach that is inadequate to the task. At the same time, it is necessary to take into account the marginal manifestations of language as fully as possible to obtain ...

Portfolio optimization in the case of an exponential utility function and in the presence of an illiquid asset
We study an optimization problem for a portfolio with a risk-free, a liquid, and an illiquid risky asset. The illiquid risky asset is sold in an exogenous random moment with a prescribed liquidation time distribution. We assume that the investor chooses an exponential utility function. Study of optimization problems with three assets including an illiquid asset leads to three-dimensional nonlinear Hamilton — Jacobi — Bellman (HJB) equations.
It is well known that the exponential utility...

The resulting model comprised of a system of nonlinear differential equations is closely examined, after which we propose a simple analytical method of construction of its exact solutions. This method is shown to generate an infinite family of solutions associated with the degenerate hypergeometric functions, parameterized by a natural number N. One of those solutions with N = 2 produces the magnetization function which perfectly fits the experimental data.

Because any segment of any increasing real number series belongs to any sequence in which each term is defined as some ...

Such a singularity leads to an absence of event horizons (if this is a future singularity). In this case it might prove possible to construct cosmological model, satisfying every consistency requirement during a universe lifetime.

Towards methodology of humanities on the way to reform in logic
The article discusses several options for developing the methodology of the humanities by means of the "reform of logic" which is understood as the "organon" of cognition. I argue that the theories of Hermann Cohen, Wilhelm Windelband and Ernst Cassirer deliver the examples for the transition from epistemology to philosophy of culture, and the theories of Wilhelm Dilthey and Georg Misch modify the theory of knowledge into hermeneutics of life.

Analytic Work on Kant — Idealism, Things in Themselves, and the Object of Knowledge
The article sketches the development of Kant interpretation in analytic philosophy. The author turns to Kant’s transcendental idealism and three well-known difficulties about things in themselves which Kant’s idealism generates: problems about unknowability, noumenal-affection and category-application, and the neglected-alternative. Building on the work “Things in Themselves: an Interim Report” (XI Kant Readings, Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, Kaliningrad, 2014), the author questions...

Another Critical Idealism of Hermann Cohen
This article attempts to answer the question as to why one should study Cohen. The author’s first and preliminary answer is that the study of Hermann Cohen’s thought is relevant to contemporary philosophy due to at least five reasons: (1) Cohen’s improvement of critical idealism of subject through replacing it with the idealism of ideas; (2) the exposition of thought as the ethics of law; (3) the development of the notion of anticipation as the principle of time, history, and interpretation;...
