Впервые на территории Калининградской области (в валунно-галечном материа­ле на морском побережье у г. Зеленоградска) обнаружена находка неполного зуба (фраг­мента коронки) меловой акулы птиходуса (Ptychodus). Географически ближайшие остатки птиходусов ранее были известны из верхнемеловых отторженцев Литвы.
