The spread of the COVID-19 infection in Russia’s Baltic macro-region: internal differences
This article explores the spread of the Covid-19 infection in Russia’s Baltic macro-region. The monthly excess mortality rate in the Baltic region is analysed along with regional and municipal Covid-19 response acts to identify regional features affecting the spread of the disease. The spatial characteristics of Russia’s Baltic regions, germane to the propagation of Covid-19, were distinguished by examining selected social and economic statistical indicators. Based on the space of places/space...
Giving the 1st order affine connection by means of the 2nd order vector-valued forms
Affine connection is given by 2nd order vectors called horizontal. Vertical and horizontal forms of 2nd order are entered for 1st order affine connection. It is proved that symmetric affine connection in the bundle of tangent linear frames defines vertical linear operator (a vertical vertical-valued form of 2nd order for 1st order affine connection) from 2nd order tangent space into 1st order tangent space to a manifold. It is shown that affine connection in bundle of tangent lin-ear frames defines...
Territorial structure of inbound and domestic tourism in the Baltic States
This paper examines the transformation of the territorial structure of tourism in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The spatial and temporal organisation of tourism in these countries has undergone significant changes since they became independent and joined the EU. These changes have affected the geography of tourist flows and destinations of interest. This study aims to define the geographical and economic peculiarities of the development of tourism in the Baltic States and to identify the central...
Connection in a tangent bundle to the frame bundle of manifold
This paper focuses on the tangent bundle to the linear frame bundle of a smooth manifold. Brackets of the tangent vectors of this bundle are con-structed. A coordinate representation of the non-holonomic frame vectors is produced. Horizontal and vertical curvatures, torsions, and covariant derivatives are constructed in a homogeneous connection.

Shifts of adulterations as the result of seasonal horizontal convection under the shelf plate (numerical modeling)
The article shows that the water dynamics induced by differential cooling in upper shelf area (down to 60 m depth) is significantly influenced by day/night variations which delays an establishing of a seasonal water-exchange in shallows. Convective exchange flows within the entire shelf region in seasonal circle requires 4—7 weeks to reach a quasisteady state. Formation of a linear portion on the horizontal temperature profile can be used as an indicator of the approaching of the flow to the steady...

The soils of the Kemerovo Region, Kuzbass, are identified on the following morphological features: the thickness of the humus horizon is up to 30 cm, a clearly expressed crumbly-granular structure, heavy loamy; the transitional horizon is unevenly colored, with signs of gleying, heavy loamy; the presence of a small amount of sandy fractions throughout the profile; soil-forming ...
Toil, Passion, Serendipity, Money, and Marketing: a Fresh Look at Agents of Translation
Drawing initially on the “Introduction” to Agents of Translation (Milton & Bandia 2009) and my work on Monteiro Lobato (Milton 2010, 2019), this article presents a number of the elements of the agency of translation such as patronage, habitus, and gatekeeping. Agents are also involved in an Actor Network, and they may act as ambassadors for the author or school they are attempting to introduce. The study then summarizes the work I have done on the Brazilian editor, author, and translator, José...
A new way of solving the problem of the sinusoidal waves on the surface of a homogeneous perfect fluid
We consider a new way of solving the problem of the sinusoidal wave on the surface of a homogeneous perfect fluid. Its feature is used instead of the potential speed of the original characteristics of wave motion: horizontal and vertical components of the velocity and pressure. It is noted that it will generalize the problem under consideration in the event of a multi-layer liquid. The results, including the dispersion relation, fully consistent with the known. Specially considered long-wave approximation...

Among Strakhov’s interlocutors were not only philosophers and natural scientists, but also writers, including Fyodor Dostoevsky, Leo Tolstoy and Afanasy Fet, who in many ways determined the cultural and intellectual horizon of the epoch. Indeed, without a virtual dialogue with Kant no modern philosophical system can be built....
Spatial differentiation of rural territories in the Kaliningrad region: implications for socio-economic policies
The article analyses the challenges associated with the development of rural areas in the Kaliningrad region. The author analyses trends in the development of agriculture, population dynamics, and settlement patterns, while also exploring their interconnectedness and external impacts. The research draws upon comparative-geographical, economic-statistical, and cartographic analyses utilizing official statistical data. The study reveals that since the early 2000s, agricultural production in the Kaliningrad...
Modern trends in paradiplomacy: a case of Russian-Finnish regional cooperation
For several decades, EU-Russian regional cooperation helped effectively respond to the local challenges. The EU terminated programmes for regional cooperation with Russia and Belarus in 2022. The existing paradiplomatic structure, however, may be of interest to scholars and policymakers as a model to be reproduced by Russia in cooperation with non-EU neighbours. The study aims to identify the main trends in paradiplomacy by examining Russian-Finnish regional collaboration. It reviews theoretical...
Societal security in the Baltic Sea Region: the Russian perspective
This study discusses whether the concept of societal security is embedded in the Russian formal and informal discourses as well as in the Russian strategic documents on national security and the Baltic Sea region. Particularly, the paper describes four paradigms of international relations (neorealism, neoliberalism, globalism and postpositivism) and theoretical approaches to the concept of societal security formulated in them. On a practical plane, Russia has managed to develop — together with...

Heidegger argues that time as pure intuition is the “field” in which the imagination faculty draws its image schemas. This field is the horizon of objectness, i.e. the possibility of emergence of non-empirical objects, including being. Being, then, is not a Kantian noumenon, not an X, but a sensible, albeit non-empirical, object created by the power of imagination, a correlate of everything ...

We study an optimization problem for a portfolio with a risk-free, a liquid, and an illiquid risky asset. The illiquid risky asset is sold in an exogenous random moment with a prescribed liquidation time distribution. We assume that the investor chooses an exponential utility function. Study of optimization problems with three assets including an illiquid asset leads to three-dimensional nonlinear Hamilton — Jacobi — Bellman (HJB) equations.

Absoluter Wert in Kants Grundlegung zur Metaphysik der Sitten
In the second section of the Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant introduces the concept of an end in itself and defines it as something whose existence has an absolute value. He continues with the assertion that the ground of a possible categorical imperative lies solely in this end in itself. Now Kant, in his remarks on the realm of ends, also operates with the notions of an end in itself and absolute value — seemingly in a different way, however. Thus, in the remarks on the realm of...
