The article traces the history of the formation of bioethics as a university discipline in Russia and attempts to reveal the bioethical images existing in the Russian higher school today. It is emphasized that scientistic and religious bioethics are dogmatic, they are opposed by philosophical bioethics that translates the values of critical thinking. In conclusion, it is asserted that there is no common understanding of bioethics in modern Russia
