Kant’s “Categories of Freedom” as the Functions of Willing an Object
... consistently from the table of judgements and reconstruct their conceptual content from the functions of thinking underlying each category. Furthermore, Kant justifies by means of a transcendental deduction the fact that the categories of freedom necessarily relate to all objects of the will. I argue that the categories are concepts constitutive for the object of the will: the role they play is that of the functions of willing an object. Finally, I show that the categories of freedom reach beyond Kant’s foundation of moral philosophy. They point to the later Metaphysics of Morals in that Kant associates an ambitious systembuilding claim with them. The ...

The human need for security as the factor of conflictogenity in the system of international relations
... state of permanent variability. Assumed as methodological “keys” of the study, preference is given to the methodology of the anthropological measurement of international relations, which allowed us to conclude that the anthropology of international relations does not deny the role of the state, but only checks its functions in order to avoid their hyperbolization and contribute to the transformation of an individual into a priority object of security. Another theoretical and methodological basis was the theory of Securitization in Policy Analysis, which contributed ...
Public law entities and the theory of the subjects of law
... recognizes the legal standing of the juridical person (public law entity). The author performed a comparative semantic analysis of the terminology and used a formal method of legal research revealing the constitutional foundations of the representational functions of public law entities in public relations. Many legal scholars have demonstrated the fallacy of separate terms in public law and have drawn attention to the increasing number of arbitrary provisions in public legislation. In their works, they have noted a growing number of fictitious ...

Consequences and Design in General and Transcendental Logic
... logic of design. The logic of design has the benefit of enriching traditional logical tools with a series of notions borrowed primarily from computer programming. A conceptual system designer sets out feasibility requirements and defines a system’s functions that make it possible to achieve the desired outcome using available resources. Kant’s project forbids a dogmatic appeal to the transcendental relations and eternal truths of scholasticism. However, the constitutive nature of the rules of transcendental logic in regard to the power of judgement precludes the pluralism of conceptual systems that can be interpreted within possible experience. ...
Connectives — full-time employees in discourse and outsourcers in pragmatics .
....2), the focus shifts to the semiotic interpretation, where we identify pragmatic components within the linguistic meaning of connectives. Based on the analysis of several representative cases, the article concludes that,
in addition to their primary function of marking semantic relations within discourse, some connectives also perform a secondary function: conveying pragmatic information about the speaker’s attitude toward the propositional content of the connected units.
Brian Bilston’s multimodal poetic practices: interactions between the digital and the analogue
... to the fore. A non-standard technique is described that utilises the font as an element of traditional polymodality to label the actor. The use of new media elements — computer interfaces, data visualisation and emojis — in poetic and meta-poetic functions is explored alongside an examination of conceptual metaphors illustrating reflection on a subject's individual experience — reflection couched in digital reality terms, such as 'filter', 'format' and 'function'. As for the referential correlation ...

On the functional definition of concepts and linguistic meanings: the embodied/grounded approach
... overcome two well-known problems of embodied/grounded theory of cognition: the impossibility of strict differentiating modal and amodal symbols, and the difficulty in defining abstract concepts/simulators (abstract lexical meanings). The proposed functional approach is based on the dichotomy 'perceptual (external) vs. functional (internal)' that goes back to Ivan Sechenov. These cognitive units are shown to play fundamentally different roles. The function — the embodied human response to the ...
Functions of syntactic structures in the context of jakobson’s model of communication
... author employs the principles and techniques of linguopoetic analysis and the methodology of constructing a communicative act, which was developed in the works of Vinogradov, Shcherba, Jakobson and Lotman and others. Special attention is paid to the functional potential of syntactic forms in relation to lyrics. The concept of artistic communication has been clarified. In this study, it is understood as an interaction between the writer and the reader in the process of interpreting a poetic work. The poetic function of syntactic means is ...
On the Semiotic Model of Image
... proposed to be defined as a complex sign (two-level hypoicon- metaphor), which has a certain “primary” sign as its sign vehicle that represents the object constituted by all the facts (cases of semiosis) that are similar to that primary sign. Three key functions of the image are defined: a) the memory function (the accumulation of semiotic experience inherent in a certain discourse), b) the transfer function (transmission (synchronic and diachronic) of semiotic experience from one discourse to another),...

Russia and the Central Asian countries in the process of forming a new world order: cooperation and conflicts
... conflict. These theories offer analytical tools to explore the formation and evolution of contemporary global conflicts. Additionally, methods of normative legal analysis and comparative analysis were employed. The results of the study indicate that relations between Russia and the Central Asian countries are currently characterized by two main trends: cooperation and conflict. Most conflicts are functional in nature and are subject to political resolution. The conclusions of the study suggest that the relationship between Russia and the Central Asian countries contributes to the development of a polycentric world. Researchers focusing on this ...
