Means of explicating the strategy of manipulating information in american electoral discourse
The article examines the use of linguistic manipulation techniques by Joe Biden and Donald Trump during the political debates of the 2020 U.S. presidential election campaign. The strategy of manipulative influence on the mass audience through presenting information in a manner advantageous to the speaker is understood as one of the key strategies of agonistic discourse, which implies a competitive nature of communication. Five linguistic tactics used to implement this strategy are identified and analyzed, namely evasion of an answer, question substitution, speculation, generalization,...

The identity and collective memory of Kaliningraders in recent Polish studies
... recent Polish studies on identity and collective memory in the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. Polish authors have analysed the development of Kaliningrad regional identity – a process closely related to collective memory changes and politics of memory. Scholars have explored the ‘identity dilemmas’ of Kaliningraders, commemorative conflicts between different groups about the past, and strategies for the ‘invention of traditions’. However, studies into the identity of certain groups of local residents (the Polish diaspora or Catholics) cast doubt on the very validity of the question about the identity of Kaliningraders. The experience ...

Three development strategies of the Kaliningrad region (1991—2018)
After the demise of the USSR the Kaliningrad region became a Russian exclave, geographically separated from the rest of Russia by foreign states. The development of the region became dependent on external factors, including Russia’s political relations with foreign countries, NATO and EU. Geopolitical changes required adjustments in the region’s socio-economic development strategy. In the period of 1991 to 2018 three comprehensive strategies succeeded one another: Special economic zone (SEZ) strategy, Cooperation region strategy, International development corridor strategy. The article describes specific characteristics of each strategy. It is based on the analysis of academic ...
