Ирландец, католик, коллаборационист и «кромвелевский пенсионер»: лорд Антрим на службе пуританской республики и Протектората

Аннотация
На примере Рэндала Макдоннела, графа и маркиза Антрима, рассмотрены особенности отношения политического истеблишмента Англии периода Содружества и Протектората к представителям ирландского католического сообщества. Этот аристократ в годы Первой гражданской войны был ярым сторонником монархии и оказывал вооруженную помощь Карлу I в его борьбе с шотландскими ковенантерами. Затем он резко поменял сторону и начал оказывать содействие Кромвелю во время его кампании в Ирландии. В рамках исследования охарактеризованы причины перехода сэра Рэндала на сторону «врагов католицизма», а также те услуги, которые были оказаны им новому режиму. Помимо этого обозначен круг покровителей лорда-католика, выявлены причины, по которым он так и не смог полноценно интегрироваться в установившуюся государственную систему. Методологическую основу исследования составили как общенаучные методы познания (историко-генетический, проблемно-хронологический, историко-сравнительный и метод анализа и синтеза), так и микроисторический анализ.
