The article attempts to determine the conceptual foundations for analyzing the influence of the artistic design of the temples of medieval Vladimir on the formation of the urban sacred space. The study aims to use the example of Vladimir during the reign of Andrei Bogolyubsky and Vsevolod III to substantiate the city-forming significance of exterior sculptural programs ...
Gorod and grad in the Russian poetry of the 18th century
... 'gorod'. The poets employed the lexemes 'grad' and 'gorod' to form tropes and figures of speech, striving to expand the traditional syntagmatics, especially in epithets. Lyrical texts retained sacred meanings and biblical allusions (sacred city, temple, heavenly garden, holy ‘vertograd’) in the development of urbanistic and battle themes.

Really: syntactics without semiotics?
I discuss the relation of linguistics and semiotics on the basis of the Old Russian discourse particle TI1 ‘indeed’, ‘verily’, ‘truly’ discovered by Andrej A. Zaliznjak in 1993. Linguistics and semiotics are different research programmes: the first one deals with specific features of language structures, while the second one discusses general characteristics of all sign systems, from a perspective of interpreting most or all of them as secondary respective to natural language. Formal...

Alimov in the novels of the cycleoffers answers to complex challenges identified by Russian culture and literature (a version of the theodicy), becomes a part of Russian sacred geography (the co-presence of Orthodox and Buddhist temples on the same land), generates a new, paradoxical idiomatics. The authors of the cycle “Eurasian Symphony” create a utopia of religious and cultural syncretism on the basis of transcultural interaction of religions in the guise of alternative ...

‘Reaching out’ beyond the text: philosophical notes
In this article, I define the concept of text and briefly discuss the related concepts of speech and discourse. I demonstrate how the humanities treat texts and examine the structural-semiotic and the hermeneutic approach. Further, I identify both the differences between these approaches and the similarities in the ways they interpret texts. I argue that the philosophical approach seeks to go beyond the text as far as possible without leaving it altogether and stress that the divide between the...
The Spectral Dependence of Skin Sensitivity to Light in Immature LYMNAEA STAGNALIS L. Specimens
By carrying out a quantitative evaluation of appearances of the shadow reflex, we obtained a spectral dependence of skin light sensitivity of immature specimens of Lymnaea stagnalis L. We performed experiments on juvenile specimens with a maximum shell size of 15 mm, to rule out the influence of the sexual dominant on the appearance of the reflex response. With its maximum at 490 nm, the obtained dependence apparently corresponds to the absorption spectrum of the photosensitive skin pigment.

Fluorescence plasmon enhancement of organoluminophores in polymer and on silicon dioxide surface
It has been found that in the synthesised hydrosol of silver plasmon resonance on lengths of waves λ = 430 nm has. It has been observed that in the presence of silver nanoparticles on a surface of silochrom increases the fluorescence of rhodamine 6G molecules. Fluorescence enhancement rhodamine 6G molecules in matrix of polyvinyl alcohol on the silver films received by electrodeposited reduction has been investigated. It is found that on rough silver films it is manifested plasmon resonance on lengths...
The spectral characteristics of shadow response in mature adults of Lymnaea stagnalis
Comparative research on spectral dependence between the appearance of shadow defensive reflex in intact and eyeless adults of Lymnaea stagnalis proved the excitatory role of dermal photoreception and the inhibitory role of the ocular one. The shape of the curve and the modified spectral maximum of the absorption of dermal light-sensitive pigment (490 nanometers) allow the authors to suppose the presence of rhodopsin-like pigment in dermal photoreceptors.

Clusters in the institutional perspective: on the theory and methodology of local socioeconomic development

The author analyses the influence of the inductive approach to the formation of cluster theory and juxtaposes different typologies of clusters and other types of localized economic systems. The article offers an overview of the existing methodological approaches to the problem of cluster identification and emphasises...
The image of Russia in 2010—2011 international indices: positioning crisis
This paper considers the political and economic shortcomings of the image of Russia and its perception by the international community in 2010—2011. International indices are a comprehensive information source in terms of the economic and political image of a country and, to a great extent, a decisive factor in the global trends relevant to different countries and their development potentials. The author also compares the international images of Russia and the Baltic Sea region countries.
