Comparison of heart rate parameters in students with different achievements in rest and conditions of short-term mental stress
Frequency and variability of heart rate served as instruments to assess the stress resistance of two groups of students with different average academic performance in different periods of the educational process: at the beginning and at the end of the autumn semester. Mental stress always statistically significantly increased the heart rate in both groups of students, but significantly decreased heart rate variability only in the group of students with better academic performance at the end of...
The remaking of geopolitical space and institutional transformations: the case of the Baltic Region
This article adopts the historical neo-institutional approach to analyse the dissolution of the Livonian Confederation and the ensuing reshaping of the Baltic region in the 16th-19th centuries. These historical events are employed to describe the post-bifurcation incorporation of a society in a different social system. Several inclusion models are identified. The centralised model suggests that the incorporated society reproduces the institutions of the incorporating society. Modified institutions...
Ethnic minority organisations in Russia and Poland: a comparison challenge
This article proposes a framework for classifying ethnic minority organisations based on a broad combination of discursive and non-discursive criteria rooted in their political opportunities profile. One diasporic and one non-diasporic organisation were chosen for Russia and Poland, respectively. Diasporicity is understood according to William Safran’s criteria and Rogers Brubaker’s triadic configuration. The Russian study cases are Komi Voityr and the Russian Polish Congress; the Polish, the...

Young ‘s body mass index and its im¬pact on the frequency and variability of the heart rhythm at quiet and after phy¬sical load
A medical examination on a selected group of young people demonstrated a negative correlation between the body mass index and the heart rate at rest, which disappeared after some physical activity. Physical activity was observed to change the heart rate variability under the influence of the changes magnitude in the initial heart rate. No correlation between body mass index and heart rate variability was established.

Assessment of the functional and dynamic state of the autonomic nervous system and the regulation of the tone of the peripheral blood vessels of the upper extremities
Research into the functional and dynamic state of the vegetative nervous system, namely the autonomic tone and reactivity, makes it possible to single out groups of sympaticotonics and vagotonics. Using the Doppler flowmetry method, the author identifies significant indicators of microcirculation in the peripheral blood vessels of the upper extremities.

The Problem of the Revolution in Gramsci (Between Kant and Marx)
Reconstructing the evolution of Gramsci’s judgement about the Russian Revolution implies an overall rethinking of his own relation to Marx as well as to Kant. Already in the spring of 1917, Gramsci foresaw that the February Revolution could become a proletarian revolution and that this would realise in fact Kant’s moral: only a society completely freed from oppression and exploitation would allow people to be free and autonomous. After the fall of the Winter Palace, Gramsci wrote that the revolution...

Contextual conditionality of gender-marked lexemes in German male-written memoires of the 19th—20th centuries
The author investigates the use of gender marked lexemes in retrospective texts of the 19th and 20th century written by male authors. Gender identity in the male written texts is reflected in gender marked lexemes (GML), representing subjective autonominations realized at the lexical level in subjectified and objectified ways. A specific feature typical of the actualization of GMLs relevant for male retrospective texts is their social context, i. e. professional and academic pragmatic parametres...

Territorial-political and regional geopolitical systems: correlation of concepts
The article examines the notions of ‘territorial political system’ and ‘regional geopolitical system' as well as a correlation between them from the viewpoint of the socalled activity-based geospatial approach. A regional geopolitical system includes geopolitical relations between the states within the region and those with powerful external actors. A geopolitical region itself can be characterized by integration, autonomization or a permanent geopolitical conflict. A territorial political...
