KANET: application in ultrasonography and challenges of protocoling

Abstract

KANET is an abbreviation that stands for Kurjak Antenatal Neurobehavioral Test, the test of antenatal neurologic development proposed by A. Kurjak. KANET is widely used for the differentiated assessment of the fetus during a normal and high-risk pregnancy. The test helps to identify antenatal deviations in the development of the central nervous system of the fetus. The authors describe their experience of doing the test and offer a new technique of the KANET automated protocoling.

The role of the family physician in the implementation of the interdisciplinary approach to specialized primary dental care

Abstract

The article examines the role of the family physician in the implementation of the interdisciplinary approach to primary specialized dental care. The authors use SWOT analysis as the main research method, which allows them to determine the feasibility of introducing the interdisciplinary approach. Delegating some of the advisory and diagnostic functions to a general practitioner (family doctor) has its strengths and weaknesses. It has risks of reducing the quality of primary and secondary dental care. However, this approach provides new opportunities for early diagnosis of dental as well as many systemic diseases. In general, this approach helps minimize the volume and cost of primarily dental care in low-mobility elderly and senile age groups.

Epidemiology of tuberculosis in the Kaliningrad region

Abstract

The article considers the epidemiological situation of tuberculosis in the Kaliningrad region for the period 2008—2015. The author analyzes annual reports for the last eight years. Main tendencies in the TB dynamics show a decrease in TB mortality and prevalence. Alongside with this, the number of patients having multi-drug resistance and recurrent patients having bacterial excretion have been increasing. The assessment of the endemic stage was done using a diagnostic algorithm proposed by I. M. Son (2002). The obtained results characterize the epidemiological situation in the region as stable. The author concludes that further monitoring of the epidemiological indicators is required. To confirm the objectivity of the obtained results the author assesses the validity of the basic TB indicators.

Assessment of the functional and dynamic state of the autonomic nervous system and the regulation of the tone of the peripheral blood vessels of the upper extremities

Abstract

Research into the functional and dynamic state of the vegetative nervous system, namely the autonomic tone and reactivity, makes it possible to single out groups of sympaticotonics and vagotonics. Using the Doppler flowmetry method, the author identifies significant indicators of microcirculation in the peripheral blood vessels of the upper extremities.
