... identifies and described new trends in the development of Northwestern regions prevailing over the last years, which have not been comprehensively reflected in scientific literature to date. The main conclusions are as follows: after overcoming the crisis of the 1990s, the spatial development of economy of the North-West returns to the natural spatial principles typical of Russia of the early 20th century, which should be estimated as a positive development.
