Аннотация
Статья посвящена одной из центральных фигур аболиционистского движения в США Уэнделлу Филлипсу. Освещается его роль в организации аболиционистской борьбы в период Реконструкции Юга. Характеризуется позиция Филлипса в ходе раскола движения 1865 г.: внутриорганизационная борьба с курсом У. Л. Гаррисона и аргументация в пользу сохранения аболиционистской организации для решения негритянского вопроса как центрального в процессе восстановления единства Союза. Рассматривается реконструкционная программа Филлипса. Освещается его деятельность как лидера движения с 1865 по 1870 г.
Abstract
This article focuses on one of the main persons of the abolition movement, Wendell Phillips. The author studies Phillips' role in abolition struggle during the Reconstruction. The author describes Phillips' position the schism in the abolitionist movement in 1865. The author characterizes Phillips' position in the internal struggle with W. L. Garrison. The author examines Phillips' argument in favor of preserving the abolitionist organization for the introduction of the black issue as central in the process of restoring the unity of the Union. The author expounds Phillips' reconstruction program and his struggle as a leader of the movement from 1865 to 1870.
