Conditions for publication

All works submitted are subject to external and internal peer review and scanning by an anti-plagiarism system, on the basis of which the decision about the publication of article is made.

In accordance with the journal’s Editorial ethics, the author attaches to the manuscript a signed scan of the License agreement on the transfer of non-exclusive rights to use the work. The agreement confirms that the manuscript has not been published and is not under consideration elsewhere, in whole or in part, as well as consent to the processing of personal data (to be completed separately for each author).

The author can publish only one article per issue. However, the author can publish two articles in the same issue provided the second article is co-authored and the editorial board approves its publication.

The article should be:

  • relevant, contain new research, pose a certain problem, describe the main results of research, offer a conclusion;

  • be correctly formatted.

The works are published free of charge.

Guidelines for authors

  • The article should be sent to the e-mail address of the editorial board (Humanities and social science; Natural and medical sciences; Physics, mathematics, and technology; Philology, pedagogy, and psychology) on the

  • discipline you are interested in;

  • a recommended article length is around 20000 characters;

  • the text should be proofread and signed by the author, who is responsible for the research level of the published material;

  • bibliographical references are included in the text in square brackets;

  • the article should contain:

    • a Universal Decimal Classification index (UDC);
    • the English title of the article;
    • a summary in the English language (400-600 characters);
    • keywords in English language bibliography arranged according to the national standard;
    • information about the author in the English language;
    • References section should have at least 15-30 works, half of which should be published recently (less than 10 years ago) and  preferably abroad. Self-citation should not exceed 10% of all the cited works. List References consecutively, in the order that you have cited them.
    • bibliography arranged according to the national standard;
    • information on the source language of the article;
    • illustrations and maps, if any, should be black and white.

Manuscript review procedure

  1. All articles submitted to the IKBFU’s Vestnik are subject to peer-review. Reviews from research supervisors and academic advisors do not render the peer-review procedure redundant.

  2. The managing editor of a Vestnik series considers whether an article conforms to the Journal’s standards and submits it to a reviewer – a specialist in the field or a holder of a relevant doctoral or postdoctoral degree.

  3. The managing editor can change the review period to ensure prompt publication.

  4. A review considers:

    • a) whether the content of an article matches the topic announced in its title;

    • b) whether an article conforms to the modern research standards;

    • c) whether the article is adequate in terms of language, style, structure, formulas, and artwork;

    • d) whether an article is suitable for publication in view of earlier works on the topic;

    • e) strengths and weakness of an articles and necessary corrections and revisions;

    • f) whether an article is appropriate for publication in the Journal, which is featured in the list of top periodicals according to Russia’s Highest Attestation Commission.

  5. The review procedure is double blind. Authors can access reviews. Confidentiality is broken only if a reviewer reports inaccurate information or falsifications.

  6. If a review suggests corrections and revisions, it is sent to the author with a proposal to either consider them in a revised article or prove their superfluity. A revised article is resubmitted.

  7. An article that is considered unsuitable for publications cannot be resubmitted. Negative reviews are sent to authors via e-mail, fax, or post.

  8. A positive review is not sufficient for publication. The final decision is made by the series’ editorial board.

  9. After an article is approved for publication, the author is informed about the expected publication date.

  10. Reviews are sent to authors via e-mail, fax, or post.

  11. Reviews are kept at the editorial office for five years.
