Peculiarities of confix adverbs in the Russian language of the XXI century: the case of dish recipes

Abstract

In the XXI century, the prevailing trend towards analytical forms creates absolutely new conditions for adverbial vocabulary development in general and confix adverb development in particular. The article considers semantic, structural and syntactical classification of substantive-adverbial phrases belonging to the thematic group “Dish recipes”, many of which include confix adverbs. The article considers the peculiarities of these structures in the diachronic perspective. The author analyses contexts from an Internet discourse and concludes that the presence of confix adverbs is a sign of lingua-creative activity of native speakers in the XXI century.

Representation of emotions in literary texts (based on ‘La carte et le territoire’ by M. Houellebecq)

Abstract

The author explores the ways of expressing emotions in the literary text using the novel ‘La carte et le territoire’ by Michel Houellebecq as an example. The main problem of research is the identification of specific way of expressing emotions in the literary text. The author proceeds from the assumption that interjections as well as emotive and affective lexical units play an important role in the representation of emotions. Comparatively low percentage of interjections, and frequent use of affective words and syntactic means for expressing emotions demonstrate an important peculiarities of the literary text- a limited use of emotive means compared to the ones used in oral speech. Thus, lexical and syntactic means of expressing emotions in the literary text appear to be more effective and more productive compared with interjections and phonetic means.

The study of legal terminology lacunae in the dynamic relations of languages and cultures

Abstract

The paper reviews the issues of eliminating gaps (lacunae) in legal terminology in dynamics, describes certain stages in gradual introduction of some borrowed terms into professional and common language, and specifies the role of translation as an instrument of eliminating lacunae. Deeper insight into the process of borrowing new terminology results in a more adequate translation, and, consequently, contributes to a better understanding of terms by both lawyers and ordinary users.

German place names in the Kaliningrad region: the commemorative aspect

Abstract

The author performs a comparative analysis of contemporary and previous names of settlements in the Kaliningrad region. The place names often reflect highly important historical events or are the names of outstanding people. Old German place names were changed in the 1940s of the 20th century. The author highlights the semantics of the toponymic units and the ways of their correlation.

The body in the autobiographical portrayal in “Mademoiselle’s Memoirs”

Abstract

The paper considers the body representation as an important constituent of self-portrait in the autobiography “Memoirs” (published 1717) by Mademoiselle de Montpensier. The book contains descriptions of various aspects of the life of the body (appearance, clothes, tears, illnesses, physical suffering), which are analyzed within a broader cultural and philosophical context of the XVII-century, as well as from the point of view of the author’s general intentions. It is demonstrated that body images work towards aggrandizement of her self-portrait, underscoring her high social status.

Semantics of P. B. Shelley’s artistic imagery in the Marque of Anarchy poem

Abstract

Analyzing the system of P. Shelley’s literary images, the authors argue that allegorical characters of P. Shelley’s poem form two opposite groups, those of good and evil, light and darkness, and truth and falsehood. P.Shelley’s negative characters are a reflection of the poet’s views on reality and the sociopolitical situation in the country. The mythological and poetic image of the Earth is one of the central in the poem; the Earth calls for the people of England to regain their freedom. The authors reveal a special function of the Shape as a combination of natural and mystical phenomena, opposing evil.

The problem of memory in the novels of T. McCarth

Abstract

This article analyses works of a modern English writer T. McCarthy who is considered to be a phenomenal occurrence of the postmodern discourse with its emphasis on the fragmented structure of the human experience of ‘beingin- the-world’. The authors explore the main idea of the novels. On the one hand, the novels reflect the entropic nature of modern culture, and, on the other hand, they raise the question of a withdrawal from the ‘inner cave’ by means of memory stimulation.

Abstract

The originality of the author's aesthetic conception lies in A. S. Byatt’s reflections on the origins of creative energy and their connection with the processes taking place on the border of the real merging with the imaginary, Otherworldly. The author shows the role and organization of these poetical paradigms in the text, the center of which is the idea of Destiny. It is reflected not only in the plot twists and turns, but also in the formation of characters, the creation of the book composition, as well as in numerous intertexts.

The resonance of a tragic sound: G. Ivanov’s poetry in B. Ryzhy’s interpretation

Abstract

The author analyses the specific features of B. Ryzhy’s poetry, showing that G. Ivanov’s works influenced his poetic manner. The author reveals the reasons of commonality of their existentialistic worldview, which was predetermined by some biographic and sociocultural factors. Reinterpreting G. Ivanov’s key motifs and imagery, B. Ryzhy enriches his lyrics by bringing in Soviet and post-Soviet connotations. G. Ivanov’s tragic intonation gains a new sound expressing the experience of man living in the 20th century.

Non-standard problems in competence-based mathematics teaching

Abstract

The authors analyse various types of non-standard tasks, identifies their main characteristics related to the formation of cognitive competence in mathematical education. The article explores ways of solving heuristic, research, and creative problems. A comprehensive approach to the definition of the nonstandard task is proposed. The proposed structure of the problem is based on the following scheme: content — form of presentation — process of solving — result. The authors give examples of mathematical problems that can be defined as non-standard ones.

Peculiarities of motivation for sports during initial sports training in youth sports schools

Abstract

The article explores motivation for sports activity in teenagers during initial sports training. It is shown that positive emotions, deriving pleasure from sports is the prevailing motivation. The authors conclude that there is an insufficient degree of sports ambitions, striving for a better result in sports, and lack of competitiveness. However, in general sports remains an attractive activity.

Pedagogical support children in a conflict situation: legal aspects

Abstract

The authors analyse documents of international and European law: the Convention on the Rights of the Child, UNICEF Declaration "World fit for children”, European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, European Social Charter, the Strategy of the Council of Europe on the Rights of the Child. The documents are analysed in the light of the mechanism of pedagogical support for children. It is shown that the abovementioned documents, which guarantee the protection of rights, psychological and physical health and development of the child can be considered as the legal basis for the organization and implementation of pedagogical support for children in conflict situations within the systems of education and social welfare.

Personal determinants of somatic reactions in adolescents

Abstract

The author discusses personal traits of adolescents and the development of somatic reactions. The author confirms numerous survey data concerning the association of dysfunctional personal characteristics and the severity of somatic symptoms in the adolescent population. Multiple regression analysis demonstrates that a high degree of somatic reactions are typical of adolescents with emotional instability and a hostile view of the world. The author proves a "buffer" role of social support; partial leveling of dysfunctional personal characteristics can influence the degree of somatic reactions.
