Scientific writing in teaching foreign languages to future researchers

Abstract

This article highlights the need to address the stylistics of scientific writing when teaching a foreign language to future scientists. The author presents a historical overview of the key stages of development of functional style theory and describes the modern perspective on scientific writing in the following aspects: field of use, topic and content, characteristics of the sender and recipient, purpose and forms of speech, and general properties, linguistic features, and types of texts.

Primary school teachers’s attitude to the formation of psychological health: An empirical study

Abstract

This article addresses the problem of promoting students’ health as a teacher’s activity within the educational system; special attention is paid to the pilot study into social attitudes to psychological health and its promotion in primary school teachers. The author analyses the classical ternary structure of social attitude to health promotion and identifies inconsistencies in the system of primary school teacher’s attitudes to the teaching process and the role of schoolchildren’s health in this process.

The role of native language in learning Russian as a foreign language

Abstract

This article addresses the role of the native language in learning Russian as a foreign language. The author describes the role attributed to the native language by the modern methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language in the training process or preparation thereto. It is concluded that addressing the native or an intermediate language is methodologically justified in the process of learning Russian as a foreign language if it helps to increase the efficiency of the training process.

The dynamics of formation of teachers’ preparedness for improving relations between pre-schoolers

Abstract

This article describes the dynamics of developing future specialist’s preparedness for improving relationships between children of pre-school age. The author presents the results of an experiment demonstrating the positive dynamics of preparedness development and its components in undergraduate and graduate students of a pedagogical university. The article describes levels of preparedness formation: minimum, stable, and maximum. The effectiveness of the author’s model is demonstrated.

Technology vs. spirituality: On the meaning of education in the conditions of information and knowledge society

Abstract

In everyday life, the words "information" and "knowledge" are often used to explain each other, which leads to tautology. In pedagogical literature, the situation is similar. Through comparing the notions of "information" and "knowledge", the author analyses the philosophical and pedagogical approaches to education within the concepts of “information society” and “knowledge society” and discusses the results of misuse of these terms in the context of target values of the modern education and the competency approach as a means to achieve them.
