Coastal and western border centers in the system of large cities of modern Russia: socio-economic and innovation development.
... peer-reviewed journals, indexed in Scopus) the study confirmed the hypothesis on ‘coastalizing’ socio-economic and innovative potential and advanced growth of coastal centers. At the same time, there is also a high differentiation within the group of coastal cities, indicating that such trends are valid only at the national level. Differentiation and the gap on a number of indicators are fixed with respect to the group of Western Russian cities located in the border regions. It refutes the hypothesis on their advanced development due to external contact capacity (except the advanced indicators’ values on trade, driven by the role of logistical and transit centers). The study of differentiation ...
Modern understanding of ‘geoeconomic position’ and the Saint Petersburg agglomeration

Sustainable tourism as an alternative development path for coastal towns: The case of the Kaliningrad region
The authors present a function-based typology of towns located on the coast of the Kaliningrad/Vistula Lagoon. It is shown that the recreational function of these towns is either poorly developed or absent, which complicates the sustainable development of coastal territories. Grade-based assessment makes it possible to identify factors both facilitating and hindering the recreational development of coastal towns. Towns with the highest recreational potential are identified.

Peculiarities of ceramic production from the Neolithic settlements Pribrezhnoye and Ushakovo-3
... results of an interdisciplinary study of ceramics from the Neolithic settlements of Pribrezhnoe and Ushakovo-3, the earliest among the coastal culture complexes with corded ware. Using X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, ceramics from various stages of the coastal culture, as well as from the Funnel Beaker culture, whose seasonal settlements preceded them in approximately the same locations, were analyzed. The main objectives of the study were to identify the characteristics and common features of ceramic production from these Neolithic settlements and to determine the locations of the primary raw material sources. A significant ...

Attractiveness of landscapes as a factor in the development of recreational nature management of the Sambia Peninsula seashore
... recreationally significant territories into this sector. This fully applies to the Kaliningrad coast of the Baltic Sea, as evidenced by the increased volume of tourist flows in recent years. A comprehensive approach to assessing the attractiveness of areas located in the "land—sea" contact zone is proposed, based on a component-wise evaluation method using 25 indicators that reflect the natural characteristics of coastal landscapes and the degree of their anthropogenic transformation. The methodology was tested on 31 sections of the Sambia Peninsula’s coastline. The analysis of their attractiveness revealed a predominance of areas with a high level of appeal ...
Spatial structure of migration attractiveness of Russian regions at the local level
