The state of antioxidant system in patients with alcohol abuse
A study into the content water-soluble antioxidants, ceruloplasmin and iron (III) in the blood serum in patients with alcohol abuse showed significant changes to the antioxidant system: an increase in the content of antioxidants and ceruloplasmin decreased and a decrease in that of iron (III)....
The assessment of the antioxidant status of medicinal plants from the collection of the botanical garden of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University (Kaliningrad)
This article analyses the content of phenolic antioxidants and ascorbic acid in medicinal plants of 66 species from 31 families. The study identified palnt species with a maximum content of biologically active compounds (phenolic antioxidants and ascorbic acid) and high antioxidant activity. These ...
A pool of water soluble antioxidants in some plants of the Kaliningrad region
This article focuses on a pool of water-soluble antioxidants in certain plants of the true grasses (Gramíneae) and legume (Fabaceae) families in the Kaliningrad region in connection with the environmental conditions of their habitat, namely, the varying distance to the Sea coast. It is shown that ...
The assessment of the antioxidative status of plants of different ecological groups growing on the Curonian spit
This article analyses the endogenous level of antioxidants in the plants growing on the Curonian spit. The authors distinguished two groups of plants with the highest content of anthocyans and the water-soluble antioxidants in plant tissues and determined a positive correlation dependency between ...
The use of a gas discharge visualization technique at estimation the antioxidant status of plants in the conditions of cadmium toxic effect
This article presents an evaluation of the antioxidant status of plants with the use of the GDV-method under the toxic effect of cadmium. A high concentration of Сd in the soil is proven to stimulate the accumulation of anthocyans, carotenoids, and acorbic acid and to contribute to a reduction ...
The antioxidant status of plants in the conditions of urban cadmium pollution
This article analyses the level of antioxidants (water-soluble antioxidants, carotenoids, and anthocyanins) in plants under the conditions of environmental cadmium pollution. The authors emphasise excessive background concentration of cadmium in plant samples collected in Kaliningrad and ...
Abiotic Factors Defining Plant Antioxidant Pool
The article reviews the research on the influence of abiotic factors on plant antioxidant pool formation conducted at IKSUR.

Comparison of the methods of total antioxidant activity analysis
Five varieties of apples from the Baltic region were studied by means of two different analytical methods. The results of experiment demonstrate that the values of total antioxidant activity obtained through spectrophotometric and amperometric methods are comparable. The authors determined the relation between the total content of ascorbic acid and phenolic compounds in apples, pulp, and juice of the variety.

A study into the antyoxidantive activity of amaranth in the conditions of a black-soil region
... high content of antioxidantive substances in Amaranthus and identified the dependence of the extract antioxidantive activity on the method and period of sample collection, as well as the method of extraction and storage period. The highest content of antioxidants was registered in water extracts in September. The most effective method of sample collection is obtaining extracts from dry leaves of Amaranthus and storing water solution for further use for not more than 5 months. The best period for plant ...
An environmental analysis of the activity of bioflavonoid accumulation in medicinal plants
... and leucoanthocyanin content in plant tissues (r = 0.89) is observed. The study identified promising plant species with a high content of bioflavonoids. These plants can be used as a basis for developing innovative functional foods that exhibit high antioxidant activity.
