The use of a gas discharge visualization technique at estimation the antioxidant status of plants in the conditions of cadmium toxic effect
This article presents an evaluation of the antioxidant status of plants with the use of the GDV-method under the toxic effect of cadmium. A high concentration of Сd in the soil is proven to stimulate the accumulation of anthocyans, carotenoids, and acorbic acid and to contribute to a reduction in the concentration of water-soluble antioxidants in the leaves of the plants under consideration. It is shown that GDV-entropy ...
The buffer capacity of soils as alkalization ability
The results of the author’s studies of Kaliningrad soil help characterize its buffer capacity to alkalization and identify the main reasons for the differences between the obtained and background values. The author proposes a set of methods to increase the buffering capacity of soils.

The characteristic of the vegetative land cover of the Kaliningrad peninsula ecosystems
This article offers an ecological analysis of natural ecosystems used in the monitoring of the microflora of soil lands. The authors characterize the soilvegetation cover of the ecosystems of the Kaliningrad Peninsula. The difference in the species composition of phytocenoses and their environmental conditions is identified.

A study into the antyoxidantive activity of amaranth in the conditions of a black-soil region
The authors registered a high content of antioxidantive substances in Amaranthus and identified the dependence of the extract antioxidantive activity on the method and period of sample collection, as well as the method of extraction and storage period. The highest content of antioxidants was registered in water extracts in September. The most effective method of sample collection is obtaining extracts from dry leaves of Amaranthus and storing water solution for further use for not more than 5 months...
The maintenance of guaiazulene in the essence of common yarrow growing on different soils
The method of gas chromatography-spectrometry was used for the qualitative and quantitative identification of the composition of essential oil obtained from common yarrow growing in different soils in the climatic zone of the Kaliningrad region. The authors established that, depending on the type of soil, the content of сhamazulene and other components in essential oil can vary across a wide oncentration range.

The impact of environmental factors on the distribution of Macoma balthica (Linnaeus 1758) and Mytilus edulis (Linnaeus 1758) in the southeastern part of the Baltic Sea
... research on the influence of environmental factors on the distribution of two abundant bivalve species – Macoma balthica and Mytilus eduli – in the south-east of the Baltic Sea. First of all, the distribution of species was determined by the types of soils. The distribution of molluscs in deep-water sectors was limited by oxygen deficiency in near-bottom waters.

The seasonal dynamics of gramnegative bacteria in the microflora of soils, water and the body of European eel (Anguilla anguilla L.) in the Vistula lagoon
This article considers the species composition of the opportunistic pathogenic microbial flora and offers a correlation analysis of the seasonal dynamics of the gram-negative microflora in the European eel (Anguilla anguilla L.) and the water and soil of the Russian part of the Vistula Lagoon. The authors determine the epizootic bacteria species pathogenic for the eel. The seasonal dynamics of species diversity of bacteria in the eel's microflora helps to determine how bacteria penetrate the organism ...
