Abstract

The most vivid characteristics of a person capable of having ‘prophetic’ dreams are identified on an analytical basis. The authors consider such aspects as the dreamer’s gender, age, ability of semantic development of dreams, and ability to understand their prophetic nature. The combination of these parameters comprises the portrait of a dreamer.

The man as seen in Russian jokes

Abstract

The cultural portrait of the man is reconstructed on the basis of contemporary Russian jokes in the context of gender studies. The author identifies such typical traits as love of drinking and watching sports programmes, laziness, ostentatious eroticism, etc. At the same time, certain mechanism of the comical are defined from the perspectives of cultural and cognitive linguistics.

The ironic discourse in the works of V. Pyetsukh

Abstract

The article identifies the conditions of the realisation of such crucial feature of V. Pyetuskh’s creative method as irony. It is shown that his irony is aimed at the key elements of the Russian identity — the history of Russia and the Russian national character. In this conditions, irony aims to emphasise weaknesses under the guise of humour in order to gather strength to overcome them in every moment of the present.

The demonization of the Red Army as a trend in Western historiography

Abstract

This article focuses on the reasons behind and attempts at demonising the image of the Red Army in the modern Western historiography. It is concluded that the key factor behind this approach is the aspiration to misrepresent the role of the USSR in the destruction of Hitler’s Germany and the liberation of Europe from the Nazi slavery, which results in the thesis that the entry of the Red Army was not an act of liberation but rather the beginning of a new occupation, which was even worse that the Nazi one.

The chronosoteriology of the Königsberg text

Abstract

This article considers the futurological potential of the experience of “salvation of time” reflected in the works of representatives of the so-called ‘Königsberg text’. Despite the differences in diagnosing the modern state of affairs, which is being reduced to the binary opposition of the ‘optimistic belief in progress’ vs the ‘apocalyptic belief in the inevitability of the end of the world’, the chronosoteriologies of the ‘Königsberg text’ represented in the works of Dach, Donelaitis, Kant, Bobrowski show a remarkable potential of ideas, which are significant in their relevance for the ‘grammar’ if not of survival then of meaningful and humane life.
