Аннотация
С привлечением работ классиков британской политической мысли рассмотрено отношение викторианского истеблишмента к теоретическим конструктам. Анализ позволяет выявить недоверие британских государственных деятелей XIX в. к идеологическим построениям. Выделяется главенствующая роль морали и религии в викторианской политической жизни. На основе трех важнейших источников о политических воззрениях Эдварда Дерби удалось реконструировать главные положения концепции «консервативного прогресса», позволявшей решать тактические партийные задачи. Определена связь взглядов Дерби с идеями последующих поколений британских консерваторов.
Abstract
Using the works of the most prominent British political intellectuals, the author examines the correlation of theory and practice in Victorian politics. The analysis shows the suspicious attitude of British politicians toward ideologies. The core role of morality and religion in Victorian politics is highlighted. The author reconstructs the concept of conservative progress, which was used to solve tactical party objectives on the basis of three most significant sources of Edward Derby’s political ideas. The link between Derby’s ideas and subsequent generations of British conservatives has been defined.
