Frame approach to analysing the semantisation of the biblical quasi-anthroponym prodigal son in the language of Russian poetry
This article describes ways to semanticise the biblical quasi-anthroponym ‘prodigal son’ in a poetic text, using the frame approach as a means of cognitive modelling and description. This approach helps to identify and characterise meaning construction mechanisms in a precedent onomastic sign, which conveys the conceptual meanings of the biblical text. The study proposes a new methodology for analysing the biblical anthroponym in a poetic text.
The results obtained suggest that the realisation...
Development of quasi-symbols based on connotations of verbal units meanings
The article verifies the assumption that connotations of verbal sememes can serve as the basis for the development of a quasi-symbol meaning. A quasi-symbol is an element of an intermediate, linguocultural system, generated as a result of close interaction between language and culture. While a symbol is a sign of culture that expresses some idea in an imperative manner, a quasi-symbol is a type of symbol that has a verbal nature. The study has objectified connotations based on the semantics of...
Carbon isotope substitution and quasi-intersection of energy levels in diamond
The paper presents the results of a study of spin States in the main electronic state of the only nitrogen-vacancy center (NV–) in a 13C-enriched diamond. The analysis is based on applying a method that uses a full set of commuting operators. The results show that there are two double degenerations of energy levels in this system, which can be considered as a special case of LAC. Changes in the properties of the spin States of the NV–-center at the quasi-intersection level are considered...
Berlin in the contemporary German literature
The article considers the allegorical image of Berlin in the contemporary german novel. It is discussed how apocalyptic images are used to create the urban space of Berlin by the western ad eastern writers after the reunification. Special emphasis is given to the contemporary concept of the antiutopian urbanization.

The Problem of the Possibility of an Artificial Moral Agent in the Context of Kant’s Practical Philosophy
The question of whether an artificial moral agent (AMA) is possible implies discussion of a whole range of problems raised by Kant within the framework of practical philosophy that have not exhausted their heuristic potential to this day. First, I show the significance of the correlation between moral law and freedom. Since a rational being believes that his/her will is independent of external influences, the will turns out to be governed by the moral law and is autonomous. Morality and freedom...
The Visegrad Group and the Baltic Assembly: coalitions within the EU as seen through Russian foreign policy
Today Russia has difficulty doing business-as-usual with EU states. It seems that the countries of the Visegrad Group (V4) and the Baltic Assembly/Baltic Council of Ministers (BA/BСM) have contributed substantially to this state of affairs. Overall, the tensions between Russia and the EU are building up – another tendency that did not arise on the Russian initiative. This article aims to address the question of whether Russia should establish direct relations with the V4 and the BA/BCM as tools...
The remaking of geopolitical space and institutional transformations: the case of the Baltic Region
This article adopts the historical neo-institutional approach to analyse the dissolution of the Livonian Confederation and the ensuing reshaping of the Baltic region in the 16th-19th centuries. These historical events are employed to describe the post-bifurcation incorporation of a society in a different social system. Several inclusion models are identified. The centralised model suggests that the incorporated society reproduces the institutions of the incorporating society. Modified institutions...
The terms «clinical recommendations», «clinical guidelines», «diagnostic and treatment protocol»: a comparative analysis of definitions
The study analyzes the definitions of terms that name the main regulatory documents for top-level medical personnel: “clinical recommendations”, “clinical guidelines”, “diagnostic and treatment protocol”. The article compares the terminological phrases with the keywords “recommendations”, “management” and “protocol”, multicomponent units that name specific varieties of these documents. It was revealed that a large number of syntagmatic connections of the main term and...
Features of modeling turbulent gas flows with evaporating droplets
The features of modeling gas flows with evaporating droplets are considered. Such flows are found in power plants and technological devices. The resistance curve for a drop with corrections for quasi-stationary motion, the dependence of the correction coefficient on the dimensionless intensity of evaporation, the dependence of the dimensionless intensity of the pulsation energy decrease on various parameters are studied. Graphs are represented in dimensionless variables. It was found that...
Kant als Mystiker? Zur These von Carl Arnold Wilmans’ dissertatio philosophica
Carl Arnold Wilmans received his degree of doctor in philosophy in Halle in 1797 for a bold thesis. He claimed a latent similarity between Kant’s enlightened philosophy of religion and the pure mysticism of some so-called separatists — and sent his work to Kant. The fact that and how the latter reacted to it, makes the matter all the more interesting. Could Kant have been a secret mystic? The following study attempts to give a differentiated presentation of Kant’s intellectual relationship...
1+1-Dimensional Yang — Mills Equations and Mass via Quasiclassical Correction to Action
Two-dimensional Yang — Mills models in a pseudo-euclidean space are considered from a point of view of a class of nonlinear Klein — Gordon — Fock equations. It is shown that the Nahm reduction does not work, another, novel choice is proposed and investigated. A quasiclassical quantization of the models is based on Feynmann — Maslov path integral construction and its zeta function representation in terms of a Green function diagonal for an auxiliary heat equation with an elliptic potential...
English and Russian evaluative adverbs
The paper proposes an approach to determine correspondences between the relevant pairs of Russian and English evaluative adverbs. It has resulted in a list of Russian and the corresponding English pairs of adverbs. Chains of quasi-synonymous words linking the adverbs are constructed. An important feature of antonyms is the fact that negatively-oriented antonyms are marked with respect to the positive ones. The different methods for the determination of semantic metrics in the Osgood’s space are...
How translations are willed into existence
This paper will argue that translations are willed into existence in three conceivable ways: pull, push and shuffle. Pull is the most intuitive form. It corresponds, for example, to a publishing house that decides to translate a foreign novel. Here, the initiative to invest in a new translation project is almost entirely located on the target side. The push mode, in contrast, can be exemplified by a company that decides to localise its website to cater for foreign markets. Here the decisions to...
On the procedure of calculating the electromagnetic field of a cable
This article presents a method for approximate calculation of the compo-nents of an electromagnetic field produced by a cable system. This approach contributes to an efficient solution to the problem of electromagnetic compati-bility of radioelectronic equipment in a wide range of cable structure parame-ters.

One method for constructing exact solutions of equations of two-dimensional hydrodynamics of an incompressible fluid
We propose a simple algebraic method for constructing exact solutions of equations of two-dimensional hydrodynamics of an incompressible fluids. The problem reduces to consecutively solution three linear partial differential equations for a nonviscous fluid and to solving three linear partial differential equations and one first-order ordinary differential equation for a viscous fluid.

Political reconsideration of the Soviet past: attitudes and actions of the Lithuanian elites
Different political elite groups of post-communist Lithuania offer different accounts of the Soviet past. Even twenty years later, after the collapse of communism Lithuanian politicians (with the exception of certain conservative anti-nostalgic leaders allied with some populists) still do not have a unified and coherent view on the Soviet political and social practices, truths, and methods. However, conservatives are very consistent in their restrictive views about the past and are willing to engage...
