The article explores one of the modern trends in the semiotic analysis of the city and urban environment — the study of the cultural code of the city. In the contemporary academic discourse, the importance of studying the cultural code of the city is growing not so much as a phenomenon but as a system of decoding and cognizing each specific city in its own context. This aspect is closely related to the analysis of the problem of enhancing urban identity and local patriotism, as well as identifying...
Semio-poiesis: on the birth of the semiosphere from the biosphere
The article discusses a possible development of Yuri Lotman’s concept of semiosphere by supplementing it with the idea of semio-poiesis. Analysis of the processes of origination, evolution and functioning of the genetic code makes it possible to describe the main mechanisms of these processes. The associations of material phenomena (in this case nucleotides and amino acids) led to the establishment of semiotic links, resulting in mechanisms of information storage and transmission, allowing...
Implementation of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code and amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS 74/78) for ship-building
This paper focuses on the status of shipbuilding and ship repair enterprises under international maritime security regimes. The author analyses amendments to SOLAS 74/78 convention, including the ISPS Code, which were adopted in December 2002 in the aftermath of September 11 attacks. «Nomen est omen»: the role of names in the novel Parade by Nikolay Kononov
The author analyses the role of the main characters’ names — Lev, Lyuda and Arkady — in the novel Parade by N. Kononov. The multilanguage anagrammatic code is chosen as a research technique: anagramming (in some cases with a transition from one language to another) allows the author to identify hidden meanings consciously or subconsciously used by the writer. N. Kononov resorts to language game throughout his novel and shows the connection between the name Lev and the semantics of physicality...

An analysis of the resistance of McEliece CS based on an AG-code to quantum Fourier sampling attack
This article tests the quantum resistance of McEliece CS based on an AG-code over any elliptic curve. Using the criteria suggested by Dinh, Moore, and Russell [3], the author proves the resistance of this CS to quantum Fourier sampling attack. Thus, Shor’s algorithm cannot identify the group structure of the code and break the CS.

The vegetative code in Nikolai Kononov’s short story “Ansatasiya’s Amnesia”
The second article of the series considers the role of the vegetative code in conveying the core of N. Kononov’s hidden semantic system, namely, the de-velopment of the dual and the plural from the singular I (ego). It is shown how the description of the vegetative cycle of oats (or the singularity/duality...

Signs and senses as an epistemological problem
The semiotic problem of the triad “sign – meaning – sense” is discussed as a methodological problem caused by philosophy of external realism and the representational theory of cognition based on it. Reification of linguistic signs, along with the erroneous view of the nature and function of language as a communication tool rather than the mode of existence of humans as living (cognitive) systems, impedes scientific explanation of both language and linguistic signs. As an alternative...
